What this course covers
This course has been designed to support sports students and industry professionals to build the skills needed to succeed in the business of Australian football. Across 80+ lessons, Brad Lloyd takes you inside the four key roles of a club football department, recruiter, list manager, football manager and player agent, drawing on more than 20 years working in each of them. Every module includes practical exercises, a knowledge check and a Q&A with industry experts.
Course modules
Fundamentals in Recruiting and Talent Identification
How the recruiting process runs, what to look for in a player, finding undervalued talent, writing match reports, profiling character and the career path into recruiting.
Foundations in List Management
The role of the List Manager, list strategy and governance, drafting for needs versus talent, Total Player Payments, trades, contracting and negotiation.
Managing and Leading a Football Department
Football strategy, high performance, medical and coaching programs, football operations, wellbeing, AFLW, integrity and risk, managing the soft cap and working with the media.
Succeeding as a Player Agent
Rules, regulations and the CBA, understanding a player's value, acquiring talent, the trade period, contract negotiation and marketing players.

Your facilitator
Brad Lloyd is an experienced AFL administrator with more than 20 years in the industry. He has worked as an AFL Player Agent, Recruiting Manager and List Manager, and served as General Manager of Football at Carlton, overseeing list management, high performance, medical, coaching, operations and wellbeing across the men's and women's programs. He holds a Bachelor's degree and an MBA from Victoria University and has completed executive programs in negotiation and leadership at Harvard Business School. Brad is a Director of Apogee Sports.
